The "ATV + zipline + cenote" combo is the classic jungle day out of Cancun, and for good reason. In one morning or afternoon you get the dirt, the height and the cold fresh water, without spending a whole day on the road. Here's what to expect and how to pick the right version.
Why these three activities go together
They sit naturally in the same place. The jungle around the Ruta de los Cenotes, near Puerto Morelos, has trails for ATVs, tall trees for zipline platforms, and cenotes under the ground. Parks build the combo around what's already there, so you move between activities on foot rather than by bus.
The order also works for your body: you get hot and dusty on the ATV, the zipline gives you a break and a bit of adrenaline, and the cenote cools you down before the ride home.
How the day flows
Every park does it slightly differently. On our main combo the day looks like this:
- Pickup at your hotel in Cancun or Puerto Morelos.
- Safety briefing and gear: helmet for the ATV, harness and helmet for the zipline.
- 30-minute individual ATV ride through the jungle behind a guide.
- 4-zipline circuit, including the suspension bridges between platforms.
- Cenote swim with life jackets available for anyone who wants one.
- Tequila tasting and a Mayan snack, then the ride back.
From pickup to drop-off, most people spend around four to five hours.

How physically demanding is it?
Less than people expect. You don't need to be fit, but you need to be comfortable with:
- Holding the handlebars and steering on bumpy ground for half an hour
- Climbing stairs to the zipline platforms
- Walking on uneven paths and steps down to the cenote
The zipline itself requires no strength: the harness holds you and the guides handle the clips. The main restriction is weight: our ziplines (and horses) have a limit of 130 kg / 286 lbs per person.
Is the cenote swim cold?
Cenote water stays fairly cool all year, noticeably colder than the sea. After a dusty ATV ride it feels great. If you're not a strong swimmer, take a life jacket; nobody will judge you, and you'll float and relax instead of treading water. Our cenote swim guide explains the rules, including why only biodegradable sunscreen is allowed.
Which version should you choose?
The basic combo is often sold with extras. Here's how to think about them:
| If you want... | Choose... |
|---|---|
| The classic jungle day | ATV + ziplines + cenote (+ tequila tasting) |
| The most activities in one day | A full combo that adds horseback riding |
| Lowest price | A pass-style tour with fewer extras |
| Just driving | ATV + ziplines only, no cenote |
Our versions, for reference: ATV, Ziplines, Cenote & Tequila ($79 regular), the full combo with horseback riding ($99 regular), the budget Mayan Pass ($59 regular) and Only ATV with ziplines ($55 regular). Booking 15, 30 or 60 days ahead lowers those prices by 15%, 25% or 50%.
What to bring
- Swimsuit worn under your clothes
- Closed-toe shoes (required for the ATV)
- A towel and a dry change of clothes
- Biodegradable sunscreen
- A waterproof pouch for your phone
- Some cash for tips and extras
Leave jewellery and anything valuable at the hotel. Lockers and photos are not included on our tours.

Combining the combo with the rest of your trip
Because it's a half-day activity, it fits well on a day when you also want some pool time. Avoid scheduling it on your arrival day (flights get delayed) or on the morning of your departure. If you're building a full week, see our 7-day Cancun itinerary.
Frequently asked questions
Can I do the ATV, zipline and cenote tour if I can't swim?
Yes. Life jackets are available at the cenote, and you can stay near the stairs or platform. The ATV and zipline don't require swimming.
Is there a minimum age for the combo?
Rules depend on each activity. Kids can join many parts of the day, and on our tours children aged 4–12 pay 50% of the adult price. Contact us before booking to confirm what your kids can do.
Can I take my phone on the zipline?
Only if it's secured in a zipped pocket or a strap pouch. Most people leave it in the bag; dropped phones in the jungle are rarely found.
