Shout ¡Viva México! with the locals. Spend the day in the jungle and the night at the Grito, the biggest party of the Mexican year.
Mexico's Independence Day is September 16. It remembers the morning of 1810 when the priest Miguel Hidalgo rang the church bell in Dolores and called people to rise against Spanish rule, a call known as the Grito de Dolores.
Every year, on the night of September 15, mayors across Mexico repeat the Grito from their balcony and the crowd answers ¡Viva México! In Cancún the city celebrates at the Palacio Municipal downtown, with a free concert and fireworks or a drone show. September 16 is a national holiday with parades.
Most of our tours end with a tequila tasting, the perfect start to a patriotic night.
Join thousands of locals at the Palacio Municipal for the Grito, music and lights.
Try pozole and chiles en nogada, the green, white and red dish of the season.
Spend the day on our jungle trails and be back in time for the night celebration.
Look for sombreros, rebozos and tricolor flags in local markets.
