Most people booking an ATV tour are staying in the Cancun Hotel Zone, and the first question is always the same: how do I get there? Here's how transportation works, how long it takes and how to make the pickup smooth.
Where are the ATV parks?
There's no jungle in the Hotel Zone. ATV parks are inland, and the closest ones to Cancun are on the Ruta de los Cenotes, the road that heads west from Puerto Morelos. Our park is at km 18.5 of that road.
From the Hotel Zone you head south on Highway 307 toward Puerto Morelos, then turn inland. Expect around an hour in total, a bit less from hotels at the southern end of the Hotel Zone and a bit more from the northern end, Costa Mujeres or downtown at rush hour.
Option 1: Shared transportation included in the tour
This is how most people do it. The tour price includes a round trip in an air-conditioned van that picks up several groups along a route.
Pros: no extra cost, no driving, no parking. Cons: you may stop at a few other hotels, so the trip can feel longer.
On our tours, round-trip transportation is included from Cancun and Puerto Morelos. Pickup from Playa del Carmen is available for morning tours only.
Tips for a smooth pickup
- Be in the hotel lobby (or the exact meeting point you're given) 5–10 minutes early. Vans run on a route and can't wait long.
- Big resorts have several entrances. Confirm which one.
- Have your booking confirmation and a phone that works in Mexico, or WhatsApp on hotel Wi-Fi.
- If you're staying in an Airbnb, confirm the nearest meeting point when you book.
Option 2: Private transportation
If you're a group, travelling with kids or simply don't want to share a van, private transport is worth it. You leave when you're ready and go straight to the park.
Our private tour works with vans for groups of 5 to 8 people, and the transport fee is paid per van at the park:
| Pickup area | Price per van (1–8 people) |
|---|---|
| Cancun | $80 USD |
| Puerto Morelos | $80 USD |
| Costa Mujeres | $100 USD |
| Playa del Carmen | $110 USD |
Split among a full van, that's often only a little more per person than shared transport. More on this in our private ATV tours guide.
Option 3: Drive yourself
With a rental car, the route is simple: Highway 307 south to Puerto Morelos, then the turn-off for the Ruta de los Cenotes (signposted toward Leona Vicario). The road is paved. Drive carefully after rain and watch for speed bumps (topes) in towns.
Driving yourself makes sense if you want to combine the tour with other cenotes along the route or with lunch in Puerto Morelos. Check with your operator that self-drive guests are accepted and what time to arrive.

How to plan the rest of your day
- Morning tours usually get you back to your hotel by mid-afternoon, leaving time for the beach.
- Afternoon tours suit people who aren't early risers, but you'll be back later.
- Don't book an ATV tour on your arrival day or the morning you fly out. Flight delays and checkout times make it stressful.
If you're staying further south, read our things to do in Puerto Morelos guide: the park is very close to town.
Frequently asked questions

On most tours, yes, but check the areas covered. Ours include round-trip transportation from Cancun and Puerto Morelos, and from Playa del Carmen for morning departures.
